Wymondham College Events Spring Term 2009/2010

Even at the start of the new term (SpringTerm, starting in January and finishing just before Easter) things are already starting to get very busy. In a few weeks a group of lucky English students will travel to see the Poet Laureate, Carol Ann Duffy, read some poetry in Norwich’s Theatre Royal. The Poet Laureate is a poet recognised as the best in the country and it is their duty to write official poems for certain events, such as a Royal Wedding, Funeral etc. Their payment includes getting a barrel of wine once a year!

Another event that is happening soon is a sponsored 24-hour row by 50 students. The aim of the row is to travel the distance to Thailand and back. The idea is to raise money towards a long expedition they will be going on in 2011. A long time away but also a lot of money. Good Luck! 

In the next few weeks we will be blessed with two theatre productions. A small theatre group will be coming in to perform the play ‘Auf dem Campingplatz’  in simple German for many of the students to enjoy. The German Club [myself included] will be helping by hosting the event and providing ‘Fasching’ treats.

The second theatre production will be the College’s very own version of ‘Hairspray’, which will feature a large cast of students of all age groups and promises to be a very well polished event. Later on this term we will be holding the traditional inter-house music competition, the ‘Mair Cup’.  Students from all the Houses will be showing off their musical talents. We shall have to wait for the exciting conclusion to that.

So there’s a lot going on and it promises to be an exciting term for all!
